Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, met with the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon earlier this week, apparently regarding "innovation".
After CNN posted an article regarding Musk's visit titled "What was Elon Musk doing at the Pentagon?", he responded with the following tweet:
Musk didn't speak to reporters after his visit, but the Defense Department said the Secretary of Defense "has been reaching out to a number of members of the technology community to get their ideas, their feedback, find out what's going on in the world of innovation."
Of course, it's likely that Musk's tweet is a joke, and he instead visited the Pentagon in relation to a new advisory board that aims to "tap innovation" from private companies. SpaceX recently managed to 'land' a rocket after launch for the first time in history, which is likely of great interest to the Department of Defense.
The new advisory board aims to recruit 12 people from the private sector to find "quick solutions to DoD problems" and who "have successfully led large private and public organizations, and excelled at identifying and adopting new technology concepts."
Or, if you prefer to stick with the Iron Man theory, maybe it means Elon Musk is the Tony Stark of the Department of Defense's new team of Avengers.
